hand guns aren’t very good at 50 m (150 ft for us USA guys). Yes its a gun and hand to hand is not essential but i wouldn’t whip a pistol out for a guy at 150 ft. thats a pretty difficult shot to hit.

For the “basing out …
For the “basing out” maneuver, how does simply getting into the stance stop the attacker from lifting you? I can see how it would work for a guy but not for a girl. I’m a 6’2″ 230 pound male and basing out would make it very difficult to lift me, but most of the woman I know are no where near that. I have lifted them off their feet many times in bear hugs. Is the “basing out” simply to set up for the elbow hits whether or not the attacker lifts you?
