http://jimkitzmiller.net/2010/08/observer-meditations-3/ – The best way to get out of a thinking frenzy or uncomfortable emotions is to simply step out.
Huh? Yes! When you observe yourself you step out of all that stuff. Voila!!! Instant relief!!!
In meditation, self observation is the most important and fundamental step. Unfortunately, many self help systems overlook this completely.
The idea is to observe your self without judgement.
Have you spent years trying to quiet your mind? Okay, let’s experience a quiet mind right now.
FYI, you can find other meditations and see related reading at http://MeditationVacations.com .

Curiously addictive …
Curiously addictive. Your voice, cadence and hypnotic emphasis on the Observing trances-me-out, hard-core. Feels like I’m almost scratch’n Delta at times, remembering dreams dreamt from years ago, swimming up from the depths. At work I reflect on this vid and suddenly become a little more aware of the Still Witness Watching from within. This is the purest of all your vids, because there’s no imagining, no assumptive ego-affirmation New-Age dreck, just pure non-judgmental Watching.

My friend I can …
My friend I can only guess that you are entertaining yourself thinking that you are achieving a “high spiritual state.” More aptly this is mental observation, NOT meditation. You are allowing the mind to run freely, entertaining all sorts of observation, when in meditation one should try to harness the horses. Reduce outward thought of 10,000 things, to one thing, then void. No doubt you induce your mind to experience euphoria, but that is only your mind tricking yourself.
