Highlights of Eliza MADA Dalian’s Fall 2008 promotional book tour of her seven year work, IN SEARCH OF THE MIRACULOUS: Healing into Consciousness. When most teachers point to the power of Now, Dalian, a visionary, mystic, spiritual teacher, and internationally acclaimed master healer, reveals how to remove the obstacles that prevent us from being in the Now. help with this self concious issue?

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Self Help

I’m one of the most self concious people you will ever meet.
I have never worn a tshirt in public, or a pair of shorts.
I’m 16, and today I want to wear a dress but I can’t wear leggings under it like I normally would with other dresses.
I’m really afraid to and nervous to.
I have really white legs (like…actually as white as snow) and because I have an eating disorder, I’m afraid people will think my legs are chubby…
help? how can i not be so self concious today? and so scared?

Just keep your focus on something other than peoples opinions of you. Remember that their opinions dont matter. I bet your legs are beautiful and i love pale skin, makes a lovely change from the usual orange patchy fake tans. The more you wear dresses etc the less nervous you will become about doing so. And if anyone ever makes a nasty comment, its due to their own issues, lack of confidence and are most likely jealous.
Life is too short to worry about these things, and takes the enjoyment out of every day activities. Try your best to put these worries to the back of your mind and just enjoy your day.
Never forget how beautiful you are and learn to love yourself.

I’m self conscious about my legs, men help me out here?

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Self Help

I’m 18 and my boyfriend is 20. We both decided to wait until we’re married to have sex so thank goodness this will give me time to come up with a solution! I have a problem with my legs showing my blood viens, I think they do it mostly after vigorous excercise (which means of course during sex they’ll look like this) I have pretty fair skin although I’m not too white. But I think it’s so ugly it looks like webs all down my legs and then they disappear. What do I do?

If he truly loves you he won’t be bothered by your legs. I don’t think there’s anything you can do other than to somehow get higher self esteem about yourself. Bonus points to you for saving yourself until marriage. :)

ANYONE, please help out and answer this extremely short question, thanks :) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100510175319AAR16Nf

What Everybody Ought to Know About Nlp Techniques?

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Self Help Books

What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)? How can you apply NLP techniques in your life? In this article, I will discuss all aspects of NLP and how you can benefit from NLP techniques.

What is NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a behavioural science that was developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. They had claimed that NLP had theories, principles, practices, methods and techniques of three varied fields – linguistics, computer science and neurology.

So NLP has three main components: neuro, language and programming.

NLP has often been defined as a “modeling excellence”. Modelling is the core activity in NLP and is the process of extricating and replicating the language structure and behavioural patterns of an individual who is excellent at a given activity.

NLP  may be described best as “the science of human excellence”!

History of NLP

NLP originated when Richard Bandler, a student at University of California, Santa Cruz, was transcribing taped therapy sessions of the Gestalt therapist Fritz Perls as a project for the psychiatrist Robert Spitzer, who had commissioned Bandler to teach drums to his son.

Soon he was engaged in a different project for Spitzer and transcribed the recorded therapeutic sessions of therapist Fritz Perls. Bandler believed he recognized particular word and sentence structures which facilitated the acceptance of Perls’ positive suggestions. Bandler took this idea to one of his university teachers, John Grinder.

Then Bandler and Grinder together produced the model they named “Meta Model”, a model of what they believed to be influential word structures and how they work.. They also “modelled” the therapeutic sessions of the family therapist Virginia Satir.

They published a book “The Structure of Magic” in 1975 which contained their work. The main subject of the book was that it was possible to analyse and codify the therapeutic methods of Satir and Perl. They said that even the therapy appeared magical, everybody could learn it easily.

British anthropologist Gregory Bateson introduced Bandler and Grinder to Milton Erickson, an American psychiatrist and founding member of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis.

Erickson was well known for his unconventional approach to therapy, for his ability to “utilize” anything about a patient to help them change, including their beliefs, favorite words, cultural background, personal history, or even their neurotic habits. He treated the unconscious mind as creative, solution-generating, and positive medium.

Soon Erickson became the third model for NLP.

Today, NLP is a profitable industry and many variants of the practice are found in seminars, workshops, books and audio programs in the form of exercises and principles that intend to influence behavioral and emotional change in self and others. There is great variation in the depth and breadth of training and standards of practitioners, and some disagreement between those in the field about which patterns are, or are not “NLP”.

NLP Principles

There are 2 important principles of NLP.

1- The Map is Not the Territory. As human beings, we don’t understand the reality, we only understand the perceptions of the reality. We respond to the world around us through our sensory representational systems. It means that it is “neuro-linguistic” map of reality which determines how we behave, but not the reality itself.

2- Life and ‘Mind’ are Systemic Processes. The processes taking place within a human being and between human beings and environment are systematic. It is not possible to isolate the part of the system from the rest of the system.

All NLP techniques and models are based on these 2 principles.

How Can NLP Help You?

Training in Neuro Linguistic Programming benefits you in different ways. It mainly helps to maximize your power of communication with others.

NLP is the practice of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to produce the results they do.

NLP also helps to understand and alter unconscious behaviors. NLP teaches how our brain works, how we store the information and the most important, how we can change our behaviors etc.

Many people study NLP to help them become more effective in their chosen field. The patterns can be employed across a wide area of applications ranging from fields as diverse as education, team building, sales, marketing, Personal Development, leadership and coaching. Wherever there is human interaction and growth potential, NLP can be used to develop and enhance performance.

NLP techniques are widely used in teaching, Self Help, management and other spheres. NLP is generally taught in an accelerated manner using direct examples and hands-on experimental training. One of the best ways to learn NLP is working with NLP practitioner.

You can also learn it from books, seminars and online home study courses and apply NLP techniques in your life.

Low Self Esteem and Its Impact on a Child’s Psyche

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Self Help

Low self esteem can begin to develop early in childhood, long before the concept is even understood by the child. Most of the traits underlying our personality are developed in early childhood. This means that a child with feelings of low self esteem is likely to carry them into adulthood without realizing it.

A child with low self esteem needs help to realize that not everything is his or her fault. He or she needs to understand that no person can succeed all the time, that perfection is an ideal and not a goal. However, that does not mean that such a child cannot attain spectacular Success in life provided he/she is given the right guidance and motivation.

Low self esteem affects a child in many negative ways:-

1) Becoming an Over-Achiever – Some parents may find this prospect as something to cheer about but be assured that prodding your child to get high grades all the time does not equal good parenting. Children with low self esteem often becomes over achievers because they feel inadequate and think that they will receive love and respect only as long as they keep maintaining their high levels of performance.

2) Addiction – Drug addiction, smoking and alcoholism are the most common signs of a child with low self esteem. Such children often turn to drugs and alcohol in order to cover up what they feel are their inadequacies. Children with low self esteem often build a fantasy world in order to feel better about themselves.

3) Vulnerable to Peer Pressure – A child with low self esteem is often susceptible to peer pressure. In their search for acceptance and attention and to avoid becoming victims of bullying, they tend to cave in to pressures from the “in” groups in order to belong to a clique that is viewed as being “cool”, even if it means indulging in unacceptable behavior.

4) Depression – Feelings of being unloved, worthlessness and alienation are a constant in children of low self esteem. They are often depressed and unable to express their feelings due to embarrassment or shame. Depression in children can manifest itself chiefly through Eating Disorders, Suicide or Hypochondria.

a) Eating Disorders – By now the terms- bulimia and anorexia – have become part of daily conversation. However, despite the awareness of these conditions by the public at large, very few realize the extent of self loathing that must exist in a person for him/her to embark on an act so contrary to the human impulse of protecting self from harm.

b) Suicide – Suicide rates among young people have been increasing steadily over the years and the constant pressure by parents, schools, peer groups and society in general to strive for and achieve higher and higher goals is difficult enough for a well adjusted child. For one with low self esteem, this can be intolerable.

c) Hypochondria – A craving for attention is a characteristic trait of those suffering from low self esteem and what better way to achieve this than by claiming to be suffering from a myriad of diseases. The fact that no one believes them after a time merely confirms their idea of themselves as being worthless and so they either look for other gullible audience or increase the symptoms of their imagined illnesses. In extreme cases, they have even been known to inflict bodily harm on themselves in order to get the attention they so desperately seek.

Why is it so urgent that people help a child with low self esteem? A problem like this is much easier to overcome right at the beginning. For one thing, convincing an adult that he or she has low self esteem could be very hard. Moreover, childhood is the training ground where the adult is moulded and shaped. Surely it is our duty as adults to make sure that we do all we can to ensure that the generation following us is equipped, not just on a physical and intellectual level but emotionally and psychologically as well, to face the challenges of their times.
